JRB reunited with Daisy Prince for this chilling and suspenseful dive into the New York publishing world of the 1990s, with a book by Jonathan Marc Sherman. How true is true enough? New York City, 1995.Robin Martinez is a proofreader at the legendary magazine THE CONNECTOR, desperate for her stories to get published in the magazine. Alas, she can’t seem to get her work to go beyond the editor’s desk. Seemingly out of nowhere, a new writer arrives in the magazine’s offices – Ethan Dobson, fresh out of Princeton, blazingly talented and fiercely ambitious. With Ethan suddenly proclaimed as the voice of his generation, Robin has to examine whether she’s just jealous or whether her growing suspicions about him might in fact be valid. As Ethan and Robin strive to be part of the magazine’s legacy, they navigate editors with God complexes, fact checkers with vendettas, proofreaders, lawyers and the challenges of their own histories. In this new musical, playwright Jonathan Marc Sherman (Women and Wallace), composer-lyricist Jason Robert Brown (The Bridges of Madison County), and director Daisy Prince (The Last Five Years), tell a story about telling stories. What is the difference between facts and truth; journalism and entertainment? What happens when a gifted storyteller’s stories begin falling apart?
