Production History

Parade (book by Alfred Uhry, music and lyrics by Jason Robert Brown, co-conceived by Harold Prince) was presented by Lincoln Center Theater (André Bishop, artistic director, Bernard Gersten, executive producer) in association with Livent (U.S.) Inc. at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, Lincoln Center, New York, New York for performances beginning November 12, 1998.  Press opening was December 17, 1998, and the final performance was February 28, 1999.  Scenic design by Riccardo Hernandez, costume design by Judith Dolan, lighting design by Howell Binkley, sound design by Jonathan Deans, hair and wig design by Paul Huntley, casting by Beth Russell and Mark Simon, musical direction by Eric Stern, orchestrations by Don Sebesky, choreography by Patricia Birch and direction by Harold Prince.  The opening night cast was as follows: Leo Frank - Brent Carver, Lucille Frank - Carolee Carmello, Mrs. Phagan - Jessica Molaskey, Newt Lee - Ray Aranha, Mary Phagan - Christy Carlson Romano, Young Solider - Jeff Edgerton, Judge Roan - Don Chastain, Governor Slaton- John Hickok, Frankie Epps - Kirk McDonald, Jim Conley - Rufus Bonds, Jr., Britt Craig - Evan Pappas, Hugh Dorsey - Herndon Lackey, Luther Rosser - J. B. Adams, Tom Watson - John Leslie Wolfe, with Adinah Alexander, Duane Boutté, Diana Brownstone, Thursday Farrar, Will Gartshore, Abbi Hutcherson, Tad Ingram, Emily Klein, Angela Lockett, Megan McGinnis, J.C. The national tour of Parade was presented by Theater Of The Stars (Chris Manos, executive producer), opening June 13, 2000 in Atlanta, GA, and playing its final performance on October 29, 2000 in Cleveland, OH.  The designers were the same as the original Lincoln Center Production, except the sound designer was Duncan Edwards, and the musical director was Jason Robert Brown.  The opening night cast was as follows: Leo Frank - David Pittu, Lucille Frank - Andrea Burns, Mrs. Phagan - Adinah Alexander, Newt Lee - Ray Aranha, Mary Phagan - Kirsten Bowden, Young Solider - Jeff Edgerton, Judge Roan - Donald Grody, Governor Slaton - Rick Hilsabeck, Frankie Epps - Daniel Frank Kelley, Jim Conley - Keith Byron Kirk, Britt Craig - Randy Redd, Hugh Dorsey - Peter Samuel, Luther Rosser - David Vosburgh, Tom Watson - John Leslie Wolfe, with Anne Allgood, Mimi Bessette, Justin Bohon, Elizabeth Brownlee, Diana Brownstone, David Coolidge, David Dannehl, Sandra Denise, Peter Flynn, Carla J.
